came and went on i2pchat, RN...
Reinhilde
i seem to be on the hunt for low capacity SATA SSDs, to store the bootloader and a recovery environment for systems where things are stored on NVM Express where the BIOS cannot understand NVM Express.
dr|z3d
don't even need an SSD for that, Reinhilde, small spinning disk would be sufficient.
Reinhilde
but that has higher latency.
dr|z3d
you might even be able to get away with storing that on a usb stick. latency is mostly irrelevant for recovery and the bootloader.
Reinhilde
i mean, usb stick would work, but it'd be a hack.
Reinhilde
i mean, the sata version is a hack too, but it's at least not a visible hack
dr|z3d
who cares? if it works, it works, and you probably don't have to hunt around too hard for one of those.
RN
this reminds me of when i bricked an otherwise working tower probably because I didn't check bios to turn off device security and make an effort to preserve the 'hidden bios partition'
