Is there a need to increase the default bandwidth limit rate, there are too many L levels at i2p-metrics.np-tokumei.net/router-types. This is not in line with the current global Internet development.
dr|z3d
default is a conservative low.
NarratorZ
Very low indeed.this ultra-low-speed routing can affect the speed of the entire network
dr|z3d
not really. low speed routers aren't used for much except maybe exploration.
dr|z3d
in i2p+, they're not used at all for local tunnels.
NarratorZ
I mean this will have tens of thousands of nodes that will not be fully utilized. The overall bandwidth of the network would be affected, and the low-speed node setters themselves would not have a good experience of using it
dr|z3d
better to have a fast router advertising as slow than a slow router advertising as fast.
dr|z3d
ideally routers advertise the bandwidth relative to the connection they're on.
dr|z3d
when everyone's on fiber, then we can think about higher defaults :)
NarratorZ
Ah, maybe it could be set according to the country/region average?
NarratorZ
This is perhaps even more problematic...
dr|z3d
the issue is poor dsl, which is all too prevalent.
dr|z3d
a new i2p+ install adds a configure bandwidth icon to the homepage, i2p puts you into wizard mode. i2pd does neither.
dr|z3d
one would hope that either with java i2p+/i2p, the user has enough sense to configure their bandwidth. there's sufficient inline help to make that likely.
dr|z3d
i2pd might need to work on their out of box experience.
NarratorZ
good, java I2P is easier to set up indeed
dr|z3d
to make it even easier in i2p+, I've added a KB/s to Mbits/s readout on the b/w configuration page.
dr|z3d
round two of the chinese skank index page buff up, now with more inter-word spacing! skank.i2p/index_zh.html
dr|z3d
wrong window, sorry.
