Thank you
dr|z3d
np.. so, i2ping, how are you invoking that?
dragonheart
in the terminal ~/i2p/i2ping <host>
dragonheart
I'm getting the error on any host I try to ping.
dr|z3d
yeah, jvm thing, 8MB used to be enough, though it probably wants more now with the more recent javas..
dr|z3d
open i2ping in a text edit, search for lookup=$(java -jar -Xms8m -Xmx8m and change those both to 16m
dragonheart
OK, changing, will report in a minute.
dragonheart
No more errors! TY

dr|z3d
thanks for the report, I'll fix it at source.
dragonheart
NP Glad to help.
dragonheart
Opps I was wrong there is 1 more error, Client error for 127.0.0.1:-1 - Check logs. Happens on all pings but I'm getting responses now.
dr|z3d
see what your router/wrapper logs tell you
dr|z3d
testing here, don't worry. same issue.
dragonheart
There is no errors for today's date in ~/.i2p/wrapper.log* using grep to search.
dragonheart
s/is/are
dr|z3d
ok
dr|z3d
so, the error should be transient, you can safely ignore it.
dr|z3d
one thing to bear in mind.. not all sites will respond with a pong.
dr|z3d
try this: ~/i2p/i2ping i2p-projekt.i2p
dr|z3d
you should for a few brief moments while the ping is active a ping indicator under service tunnels in your sidebar.
dr|z3d
*see
dr|z3d
the error occurs because it takes a few moments for the tunnels to open when you ping a site.
dr|z3d
not a very helpful error, but it is what it is :)
dragonheart
I do see the ping in the sidebar, and its responding pretty quick around 600ms.
dr|z3d
so you're seeing a reponse now, or 10 by default..?
dragonheart
I do, all 10 with responses.
dr|z3d
great, then it's working fine.
dragonheart
I saw you also had a i2ping.java in your repo. Do you plan on packaging it as a jar file with your updates in the future? Also is it more lightweight than using i2ptunne?
dr|z3d
you can also feed it a hostlist if you want to bulk test.
dragonheart
Good options to have to keep track of a few hosts.
dr|z3d
unlikely to be much lighter than i2ptunnel tbh, given the jvm is most of the heft.
dragonheart
i2ptunnel.jar, sorry. Typo
dragonheart
OK, well i2ping works just fine for my needs then, TY again for the help.
dr|z3d
i2ping is bundled with i2ptunnel iirc, it's not intended as a standalone app.
dr|z3d
anytime
dr|z3d
(the i2ping shell script otoh, is bundled with i2p+, but not with i2p)
dragonheart
I have tested out i2pd, I2P(Canon/Vanilla), and Plus, going to stick to Plus
dragonheart
Although my local Router I just installed is hung up I think, I need to review it's logs and dig into it. May be network IDS/IPS causing troubles but that's for another day.
dr|z3d
sometimes a restart can fix if it's a first run thing.
dragonheart
OK, I have to head out for a few. I'll TTYL.
dr|z3d
also, you might want to configure your updates to pull from the /dev/ path. but we'll talk about that later o/

dr|z3d
you're allowed to do that when removing keycaps to free furballs.
RN
did one of Bubbles's Kittys(tm) cross your keyboard?
dr|z3d
probably 10 years of buildup from who knows what.
dr|z3d
"hmm, this key feels a bit spongy and strangely appears not to be registering half the key pressed.."
dr|z3d
color me naive, I thought dust was the only thing under there.
dr|z3d
of course, once you've discovered a moustache worth of hair under a key, all the others have to come up.
RN
hehe
RN
yeah, I took my keyboard apart recently. didn't have to pry the caps off, this dell is made to come apart nice
RN
so much gunk and bits of food and weed.. LOL
dr|z3d
yeah, scary what finds its way in there.
