parabo dr|z3d. All your base are belong to me
parabo I have all your base
parabo Also the new rig builds my LineageOS fork, and all system apps, and the image file for system partition system.img, the kernel, dtb, vendor tree, and then the boot.img file the kernel and dtb go into, the vendor.img image the vender tree and kernel modules for hardware drivers go, into vendor.img, the bootloader and bootloader.bin binary, the OrangeFox Recovery fork, with minimal kernel for functionality of my custom
parabo So I can now build in under 9 minutes the entire system, or as fast as under 5 minutes. Previous builds on an old retired cloud server were 45-50 minutes and before I started using that 7-8 hours sometimes 9 hours with my i5 laptop
dr|z3d brilliant, parabo
parabo And it only cost $58,000 USD
parabo Think about how much progress will be made in the time saved compiling allowing for more rapid development and modifying of various things with this
dr|z3d so what are you building on now?
parabo TR Pro 3995wx 64 core 128 thread 4.7ghz CPU, with Samsung 980 Pro NVMe drives for every part of the buold process to use separately, RAID5 backed 144Gb HDD storage for data regention and version tag or release build tree archives, 2tb of 2300mhz ECC RAM, 32 USB-C ports to flash 32 devices simultaneously, minimal GPU a 1030 GeForce, 360mm AIO cooler, dual 1200w Platinum Corsair PSUs in a custom machined extra super la
dr|z3d oh, so you're AMD now. I thought you were all about Intel.
parabo And in 5 weeks it will be obsolete and become the second retired build system that will still be used for secondary and trippled builds to test different code and things while being main dev on the newest...
dr|z3d AMD's next gen EPYCs will have 96 cores, 192 threads, apparently.
parabo I am Intel for many reasons. For massively parallel cost effective and overall parallel performance with no IPC or importance of caching across all cores/dies AMD wins. Intel has nothing to compete with this that I can carry with me
parabo So will the next TR Pro CPUs, except higher clocks, at cost of higher temps and wattage, and it will allow for dual CPU on the chipset, and 8Tb ECC DDR5 RAM
dr|z3d you should look at the honeybadger.
parabo Basically for mass parallel compiling AMD TR Pro wins the game, for highly optimized balance between parallelism and single threaded performance with higher memory capacity and more PCIe lanes, Intel wins still
parabo But you know, right tool for the job, at the right price for the effect it provides.
parabo What is honeybadger? 13th gen Intel?
parabo I already had a case of 24 2tb 980 Pro NVMe drives lol
dr|z3d probably cut your build times in half.
dr|z3d that's a bit different.
dr|z3d 24GB/s
parabo Nah, it won't. The bottleneck will be the M.2 ports and I only have 6 16x ports, using all 6 already. 8Gb/s sustained 16Gb/s burst
parabo The bottleneck is the RAM and the capacity of a 4x PCIe slot like the M.2
parabo I've maxed this out basically
dr|z3d I doubt you have. seriously, do some research on the honeybadger if you want more speed.
dr|z3d give it 24 hours you'll be telling the channel you've fitted one.
parabo Nope. Not investing in a new build rig for 5 weeks maybe longer depending how the 5995 TR Pro chipsets and CPUs run under Linux
parabo In 4 hours I have a conference call about getting some custom made cell phones with all the specs and components I select, high end devices, dirt cheap Chinese garbage prices...
parabo Gonna be having phones made just for my new startup
parabo Which apparently somehow matters to me
dr|z3d bah, that's not a new rig, it's an add-in pcie card.
parabo Yeah but I already got enough storage and because there's one for every input folder and output folder used through the build process, which we're dealing with a lot of intermediary step files that and reading source from multiple NVMe drives simultaneously and outputting different build system output components across many drives. I am good dude
dr|z3d ok parabo, you're good. :)
parabo No I'm not
dr|z3d you just told me you were.
parabo I'm way to baked
parabo To be good
parabo I smoked too much weed
dr|z3d well, baked or no baked, I hope you're seeing the 1.7.0+ files
parabo I'm too baked
parabo dr|z3d: have you ever accidentally the whole thing?
dr|z3d many a time
parabo I didn't the whole thing. But made the thing too big5
dr|z3d hey T3s|4, yeah, typo re 1.7.1
T3s|4 yep dr|z3d - np :D
dr|z3d when I was copying over from 1.6.1 I forgot to reset the 1
T3s|4 I also am grabbing my 3rd update in the past hour or so :D
dr|z3d some snark theme updates there, don't forget to ctrl+shift+r or it'll look janky.
dr|z3d parabo: some fixes for the dark theme mobile latest console dev build
dr|z3d more to come, but it's in a better shape already.
dr|z3d where's not_bob when you want to flaunt some stats?
