Can someone give me answer about using webseed in i2psnark? Can't find any information, "ws" and "as" in magnet link doesn't work. Thanks/
zzz
it's almost unused and may be broken, I haven't tested it in a while. I don't think we support ws/as in magnet links
i2puser1
Googling says that i2psnark support webseed since 0.9.49 mb dr zed can say something...
zzz
that's true
zzz
but can you point me to a spec about ws/as?
zzz
we implement BEP 19, is it in there?
dr|z3d
I can say something, but whatever I say won't be half as instructive as what zzz has to say :)

i2puser1
Gimme some time, i'l try to read BEP's and links
zzz
this one seems to be definitive on magnet params wiki.theory.org/BitTorrent_Magnet-URI_Webseeding
dr|z3d
my bad, I should have linked that and not the talk.
zzz
close enough ))
dr|z3d
:)
zzz
xs might be the most useful...
zzz
i2puser1, did you come across these magnet links in the wild in-i2p, or are you just doing experiments?
i2puser1
experiments
zzz
ok, so the answer is, we only support BEP 19 (url-list in the torrent file), we do not support xs/ws/as in magnet links
i2puser1
Yeah, i'l try it.
i2puser1
But how can i generate torrent file with webseed using i2psark?
i2puser1
Only third-party software?
zzz
correct
zzz
it's on my todo list to be able to add webseed in the torrent edit form
zzz
I believe our cli will let you generate or edit a torrent file with webseed
zzz
java -jar /path/to/i2psnark.jar [storage|metainfo]

but you may find 3rd party tools easier
i2puser
Will try, Thanks.

I expect that webseed will interact poorly with the new download bandwidth limiter, another thing on my todo list
i2puser1
I have another question. I create .torrent file including webseed, check is it downloading from http. It's ok, but very slow.
i2puser1
Then I open magnet link in other i2psnark, download .torrent file using DHT, check it, and it doesn't contains webseed url. Why? Is this how it should work?
RN
in general torrents on I2P will be slower than outernet. that's part of the trade off for increased anonymization.
RN
someone else will need to answer the webseed part
RN
vuze does webseeds though... just got to config careful so it uses Tor for the webseed and http tracker
dr|z3d
i2puser: you're downloading the .torrent via DHT, or the magnet?
dr|z3d
also, I refer you to what zzz said earlier about no one using webseeds and it probably being broken. but it's good that you're attempting to use it, at least we know *someone* is trying.. might help get things fixed quicker :)
