dr|z3d welcome to #saltr, wssh
wssh yo :)
dr|z3d so I got disconnected while we were chatting in #i2p-dev earlier.. the relays for your project, using Tor's?
wssh it hosts an exit node, as well, but no by itself it is not Tor.
wssh just the exit is also my tor exit.
wssh it's just a test network basically. it'll route, but nobody else is running nodes, nobody cares rofl.
wssh i have thought about bridging the two but i view it as counter productive to what i'm trying to do, what are your thoughts? i feel guilty for even asking as it's not i2p related and i'm not trying to pimp my project on someone else's turf.
dr|z3d ah, I suspected that might be the case. building a network the size of Tor's... well, that'
dr|z3d s a fairly huge undertaking..
wssh i wouldn't disrespect those more established than myself intentionally by pushing what i'm doing in these channels. that's like pissing off a mob boss.
dr|z3d you'd probably be better off doing something with Tor's relays and overlaying your own stuff, no?
dr|z3d we're fairly relaxed here, especially in this channel. don't feel you can't discuss your project, there may well be some cross-over.
wssh I suspect doing so would result in blacklisting my nodes, as there's been no formal audits for soundness, and no real community to speak of.
dr|z3d depends how you implement the overlay. if you're a client, Tor doesn't necessarily have the means to detect what you're up to.
wssh as far as trying to piggy back off of tor, i think i'd be wise to try to get a formal audit first, before trying to do anything close, i was hoping to hear from paul syverson on my design but as of yet, my email remains un answered.
dr|z3d not talked to nick or roger?
wssh i have not, i think i should probably. do you think it's wise? i only thought paul as he invented onion routing as a whole.
wssh he's kind of the 'gift horse' so to speak.
dr|z3d I don't think paul features much in the way of development these days. I'd probably talk to nick, he's generally more available than roger, or was, on irc.
wssh thank you for that, i'll try my luck. i do expect there to be many things wrong, and i even expect there to be a great deal of 'wtf is this' before i have something that makes people say... this is decent.
wssh part of it is my own humilty, part of it is... it's a dream and some code. other than that, a lot more well established persons will naturally have critical inputs about it. i'm open to all of it. over the years i've learned there's always people smarter than me. ;)
dr|z3d brb...
wssh no worries, sorry i yack a lot.
dr|z3d no harm in airing some ideas.. you should fine nick fairly approachable and reasonable in his assessment of your project.
dr|z3d *find
dr|z3d if nothing else, you'll probably raise a laugh or two with your ShitStorm transport. Made me chuckle.
dr|z3d Always a good entry point, humor.
wssh i appreciate the love, man.
dr|z3d sure thing, keep doing what you're doing, it all helps :)
wssh my main motivations for this, are primarily i believe in freedom and that anti-censorship is needed to promote true sharing of ideas, and free information exchange. in the current env, that is the state, and those who seek to profit off of people, without consent, these tools are needed.
dr|z3d sure, we're all about the right to privacy here. something that's being constantly eroded.
wssh without privacy, all the other amendments are an afterthought. it is only through the preservations of individual liberty, that any of it matters.
wssh i for one never voted for FISA.
nyaa2pguy thanks for the advice zzz
nyaa2pguy I wonder if i could also implement something like a 'unreachable share', so my router accepts LU routers for up to 50% of the ntcp2 capacity, since lots of those routers are probably still "legit"
zzz nyaa2pguy, re: s mismatch on NTCP incoming, I see a few of those routers, not a lot. they look like i2pd with messed up config.
nyaa2pguy interesting

nyaa2pguy finally got a github account here's my horror show for the morbidly curious github.com/samueldaaaarling/i2p-cs-renewed
waffles ok so i need to setup port triggering for i2p
waffles im thinking i need to set 9000-31000?
waffles and tcp+udp right
nyaa2pguy the more random the port number the better, and yup both
