what's new and different, China?
China
Dear Sir are you the author of i2+? I have installed i2p+ using java to access i2p+ across borders by binding wireguard address, but I have many VPS I want to component them into a huge network, is it of any use?
dr|z3d
You've come to the right place, China. Yes, I'm the lead developer for I2P+. Shouldn't be a problem running it on multiple VPS platforms, it runs fine already on many.
China
That's really great. i2p+ has so few Chinese tutorials that I don't even know where I should go to learn.
dr|z3d
Have you looked in the I2P+ console at the /help/ section?
dr|z3d
as far as deployment is concerned, it's pretty straightforward.
China
Please give me help to make them better allowable, I currently have (US) (Germany) (Sweden) (Switzerland) (London) (Canada) VPS's and I have i2p+ installed on all of them individually but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to component them into one large network (does this help with privacy and security)?
dr|z3d
well, you can assign a family name to all the routers which will indicate they're part of a group, but other than that, the network itself is one large network, so you don't need to do much more.
dr|z3d
if you want to run services on all the routers, you can multihome them for better redundancy and more security.
RN
you might want to look into ssh forwarding over I2P
dr|z3d
multihoming means that the same b32 address is assigned to a service running on multiple routers. so you could have china.i2p, let's say a webserver, running on 4 different servers for example. makes it harder to identify the location of the server for anyone trying really hard, and it makes the service less prone to downtime when you restart one of the routers.
China
I'm checking out instructions on how I can multiple attribute for them?
dr|z3d
you just specify the same .dat key for all servers you want to share the same address, in the tunnel manager.
China
:7667/ ?
dr|z3d
no, that's your router console access.
dr|z3d
:7658 is your default webserver local port.
China
ok
dr|z3d
if you want to be able to access all the consoles via ssh, you can do that.
China
I access the console by binding to the wireguard's address. Ssh is too much of a pain in the ass.
dr|z3d
if you want to access them securely, you probably want to create a client ssh tunnel in your local router, and then server ssh tunnels on the remote routers.
dr|z3d
sure, you should be able to do that.
dr|z3d
assuming you can access ip:port for the remote router over wireguard, you should be able to access a remote route with ip:7667
dr|z3d
you'll also need to ensure that the remote router is listening on that ip address.
China
I'm working on how to set them up.
China
Yes that's how I have it set up, I'm accessing the web interface
China
wirerguard 10.0.66.1 10.0.66.1:7667 = ok
dr|z3d
so it's already working to access remote web consoles?
China
Yes
dr|z3d
ok, great, sounds like you're all set.
China
I just don't understand how to set it up to be more secure.
dr|z3d
is the wireguard remote ip accessible to anyone else?
China
Only I have access to wireguard.
dr|z3d
also, /configui will allow you to configure a password for console access.
dr|z3d
ok, great, then it should already be pretty secure assuming you haven't got the console listening on 0.0.0.0 with all ports visible and open from the internet :)
China
Are there any important security settings?
dr|z3d
important is a sensible firewall policy.
dr|z3d
for extra peace of mind, configure a password on each remote console.
dr|z3d
if you're allowing 7667 in your remote firewall, make sure you're only allowing access from wireguard.
China
~/configui user passwd ?
China
