Opicaak Wasn't a meeting supposed to happen today?
mesh Opicaak: shhh
mesh first rule of fight club
dr|z3d eyedeekay: possible redundant case still remains in RouterConsole -> ConfigAdvancedHandler
zzz actually dr|z3d, for all my yammering yesterday about java.nio.file, you're right, because the way I did it doesn't know about or follow symlinks :)
dr|z3d yeah, I've been giving the security angle a bit more thought, zzz. Instead of allowing free reign all over the filesystem, with symlinks it might be a better idea to limit to the snark dir and have the user symlink whatever content they want to host there first?
dr|z3d As for nio.file, as I understood it, that's required to do the more advanced stuff without bumping into the issues with your proposed method.
zzz but the whole point is to allow the whole filesystem. We allow dropin to snark dir now
zzz just not with a file browser
dr|z3d sure, that's what we want, I'm just thinking out loud about how we offer some security at the same time, but you're right, we do want to browse the file system, or some of it at least. I don't know if ownership permissions can be enforced.
zzz some of it is not really security but just footgun-prevention.
dr|z3d so if we can browse the filesystem and select files, do we also want to symlink those files/folders to the snark dir so that the user knows what they're sharing?
zzz the file count limit will give you some of that for free, like it will blow up if you try to make a torrent of /
dr|z3d for that we just need a confirmation dialog with a filecount displayed, perhaps.
zzz you could have an option for symlink or copy I guess, but probably wouldn't work on windows
dr|z3d I dunno, windows shortcuts can be made to work I think.
dr|z3d if not, then windows users just don't get that specific feature.
zzz but we have the facility to seed from wherever, we don't need to either symlink or copy
zzz you just have to type in the full path right now
dr|z3d yeah, I'm just thinking symlinking the content is a good method for being able to see at a glance what's being seeded.
dr|z3d I mean, in the filesystem / snark dir, not in the snark ui.
zzz well for now this is just a proof of concept ofc, nothing fancy
dr|z3d sure, if we can get something basic working, we can bell and whistle it up afterwards :)
zzz I know symlinking the i2psnark/ dir itself works
zzz but I bet symlinking to or within an individual torrent data dir probably doesn't
zzz never tried it
dr|z3d can't remember if I've tried it, might have. I'll have another look later if you don't get there first.
zzz giving it a whirl now
zzz 4 cases: symlink to dir or file at top level of torrent data, and symlink to dir or file within torrent data
zzz hmph, all 4 work
zzz never mind I guess :)
zzz eyedeekay, FYI, when you add new items to the console home page you must add their entries to hosts.txt in both installer/resources and www
zzz missing ramble and metrics
zzz I'll fix it
zzz metrics up for anybody? just want to double check I have the right entry
zzz notbob is happy about it but not my router
dr|z3d let's have a looksee.
dr|z3d both i2pmetrics and metrics work for me.
zzz dr|z3d, sorry for vanishing, had some calamities over here
zzz I figured it out
zzz the only thing I don't know is who requested and runs the "new" metrics.i2p ?
zzz ok, it's phong
zzz eyedeekay, dr|z3d, ramble.i2p added to both hosts.txt; see issue #451 for the story on metrics.i2p
Opicaak Hello, zzz, do reseed servers have to have IPv6 to be added to the Java I2P router?
zzz that reminds me, I gotta bug a couple people
dr|z3d metric and i2pmetrics, same guy, same site, zzz, been like that for as long as I know.
zzz thanks, I'll update the ticket. never registered on stats, so I don't have the auth string
zzz ticket updated
