Opicaak geti2p.net doesn't automatically redirect to HTTPS, maybe something to consider?
RN I presume you are just talking about the outernet side specifically...
Opicaak Yes, RN, the normienet one.
RN norminet... LOL
Opicaak Hi, eyedeekay, does the linux i2p installer also install .service file?
dr|z3d linux installer from repo or .deb file, or java installer, Opicaak?
Opicaak I assume the java installer.
dr|z3d not by default for java, for debian/repo, yes. not even sure a service file is deployed for java installers when you active service mode via i2prouter install
dr|z3d *activate
dr|z3d but don't assume, in any event. know. makes answering questions easier :)
Opicaak Sure, it's not for me.
dr|z3d the java i2prouter install mechanism, does, in any event, allow service control of i2p when installed. there are a couple of steps.
Opicaak It does ask if it should start on boot, right?
dr|z3d not for the java installer.
dr|z3d it's a manual process to activate service mode.
dr|z3d on windows, different issue.
dr|z3d clarification: when you install as a service via i2prouter installer, a service file is deployed for you.
dr|z3d you'll need to jump into the i2prouter file and supply the username you want the service to run as via the RUN_AS_USER config. you DO NOT want to run as root.
dr|z3d the installation process, i2prouter install, otoh, requires running as root.
eyedeekay No it does not install a service file normally IIRC, the only way I know of which does so is with Debian/Ubuntu
dr|z3d you get a service file if you i2prouter install, eyedeekay
dr|z3d # Where to install the systemd service
dr|z3d SYSTEMD_SERVICE="/etc/systemd/system/${APP_NAME}.service"
dr|z3d if grep -q systemd /proc/1/comm > /dev/null 2>&1 ; then
dr|z3d USE_SYSTEMD=1
eyedeekay Hm. Guess I was wrong, thanks for pointing out the spot
Opicaak Great info, thanks, I do remember some installer asking if it should start on boot, wasn't sure what it was, I guess it was this installer.
dr|z3d windows installer asks about service mode. i2pd just goes ahead and installs a service and starts it last time I looked.
Opicaak Yes, i2pd installs it automatically.
dr|z3d I2P+ installer doesn't ask about window service mode, otoh, it enables it by default with no option to disable it from the installer.
dr|z3d so that leaves the repo/.deb installer.. that's probably where you're asked about service mode.
