lucy Descriptions of man/boy love in the popular media rely on stereotypes and sensationalism. Writers grinding out stories search for easy devices to advance plots and create attention-grabbing promotional ads. They borrow from traditional witches and demons, then update and embellish as needed.
lucy Sadly, the journalists we rely on for "unbiased" information -- and the professionals and political figures they report on -- also frequently have a vested interest in heightening and manipulating the public's natural fears of the unknown. In their work, these "professionals" often follow a very similar process of borrowing from and embellishing upon mythology.
lucy The result is a set of distorted images being constantly fed to viewers, readers and listeners -- with the most grotesquely distorted and attention-grabbing images being the most heavily promoted.
lucy The antidote to this poisoning of our consciousness is to seek out first-hand accounts of man/boy love as it is experienced by those who know it personally, as a boy, a man or both. First-hand accounts can provide information about social realities that the mainstream media cannot and will not provide.
