well, until recently, they were allowing access to the api for 3rd party websites, at least those that weren't meeting a usage threshold. now it appears they're blocking everything.

Yeah not sure what the rollout schedule was but right now the best ways to use reddit are old.reddit.com and RedReader, which got an API access exemption because they're blind-accessible
